Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant has said that he feels "way better" and that he is confident he will be able to return to the court soon.

The 2013-14 NBA MVP injured his hamstring against Washington Wizards on Tuesday and was originally expected to miss between a week and 10 days with the injury.

Durant, who missed 55 games last season with foot injuries, told reporters that he was confident of a quick return to action, despite admitting that hamstring injuries can be difficult to judge.

"[I am] feeling a lot better," he said. "Way better, actually. Hamstrings are a little different. You can re-injure them pretty easily if you try to play through it, or as we say now, 'Be tough.'

"I call that being dumb. But hamstring strains you cannot really try to play through it. [I have] just got to get it right and make sure that everything is perfect when I come back to play."

The 27-year-old averaged 28.1 points in 34 minutes per game during the season's first eight fixtures.
