The Oklahoma City Thunder and Dion Waiters have reportedly opened talks about a possible contract extension.
Members of the 2012 Draft class are eligible to sign extensions before the deadline on November 2, and Waiters has previously made it clear that he would like to stay with the Thunder for the foreseeable future.
According to Yahoo Sports, Thunder general manager Sam Presti has met with the guard's agent in recent weeks to discuss the possibility of securing his services before he becomes a restricted agent next summer.
Waiters was traded to Oklahoma from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the three-team deal which saw Iman Shumpert and JR Smith leave the New York Knicks for the Cavs.
The 23-year-old was a starter in 20 of his 47 games for the Thunder, averaging 12.7 points as they narrowly missed out on a spot in the playoffs.
