Philadelphia 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie has insisted that the organisation remains optimistic about the future of Joel Embiid.
Embiid will miss his second straight season after having a second operation on his foot, which included a bone graft to help it heal and the replacement of two screws.
"I'm optimistic. The doctors that operated on him yesterday are, too," Hinkie told reporters.
"We are focused on these first six or 10 weeks [after surgery] right now. Then we will get to that next phase. No one wants to be second-guessing this a year from now or 10 years from now or four years from now."
Embiid was the number three pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, but has yet to play a single minute of NBA basketball due to the injured foot.
