Sacramento Kings guard Jimmer Fredette is working on agreeing a deal with the franchise to buy out his contract, according to multiple sources.
The two parties are expected to finalise a deal by the end of the week, and Fredette will then become a free agent if he clears waivers, ESPN reports.
The Kings drafted Fredette with the 10th pick in 2011, but he has struggled to fulfil his potential over the last three years.
The 25-year-old is averaging 5.9 points and 11.3 minutes this season, and will now look for more consistent playing time after struggling under three different coaches while in Sacramento.
