Mike Malone has said that Isaiah Thomas must act as an extension of the coach now that he is the Sacramento Kings' starting point guard.
The 24-year-old has spent the majority of the season coming off the bench, but has been promoted to the starting lineup following the trade which saw Greivis Vasquez head to the Toronto Raptors.
The coach told the Sacramento Bee: "Isaiah's got to be an extension of me on the court.
"He's got to make sure he's getting guys looks, know what plays to call, now what matchups he's going to exploit and how to get those guys going where they're most effective, and that's part of his maturation of going from being a scoring guard off the bench to being a playmaking guard."
Thomas has averaged 19.2 points per game so far this season.
