Yaroslav Koshkarev has admitted that nerves got the better of him and partner Dmitry Barsouk in Russia's gold medal beach volleyball defeat to Latvia at the European Games.
The pair had to settle for silver after losing 2-1 to Martins Plavins and Haralds Regza for what was Latvia's first gold in Baku this summer.
"We made a lot of mistakes because our nerves weren't good. Anyway it is good that we got second place in the first European Games," he told reporters.
"It is great to have a medal, but it is a silver. It's good, but we wanted the other one."
Czech Republic took bronze after defeating Switzerland.
