Zauri Antia, Irish boxing's head of technique and tactics, wants to see the nation continue to improve their medal count at major competitions.

Ireland boxing chief Zauri Antia has insisted that "there is no limit" to what the country can achieve over the coming years.

The former Georgian team head coach has worked with Ireland's boxing hopefuls since 2003, helping to guide them to much success in recent times.

Following triple-medal joy at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, there was further triumph to come four years later in London when Katie Taylor led the medal charge once more.

Antia is now targeting further improvements ahead of Rio 2016, telling reporters: "At the Beijing Olympics we won three medals (a silver and two bronze) and in London we won four (a gold, silver and two bronze).

"In Rio? We will win them all. No, seriously we will look to improve some more. The improvement in Irish boxing has been very good - the skills, the strength and the strategy of the fighters and the technique which is the most important thing.

"I have taken the Irish boxers to places like Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia and this has been a big thing for them. We have a young team and there is no limit to what they can achieve."

Olympic champion Taylor will face Denitsa Eliseeva in the women's light round of 16 event at the inaugural European Games on Sunday afternoon.
