Promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that Kell Brook will defend his IBF welterweight title against Frankie Gavin at the O2 Arena on May 30.
Last month, Brook stopped mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan in his first outing as world champion, and after the Sheffield fighter indicated that he wanted to compete twice this summer, efforts were made to find a suitable opponent.
Birmingham-born Gavin had been scheduled to face Chris van Heerden on May 9, but last week, the former world amateur champion was provided with the opportunity to face Timothy Bradley in a final eliminator for the IBF title.
However, rather than agree a deal for a debut in the United States, Brook and Gavin have agreed to face each other in London as part of a huge card that will take place exactly a year on from the Wembley showdown between Carl Froch and George Groves.
Kevin Mitchell will attempt to win the WBC lightweight title against Jorge Linares, Lee Selby gets his first chance to fight for a world belt against IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich, while Anthony Joshua will attempt to become the first man to stop American heavyweight Kevin Johnson.
