Frank Warren: 'Dereck Chisora considering appeal'

Dereck Chisora considers appealing against the withdrawal of his boxing licence.

Dereck Chisora is considering an appeal against the British Boxing Board of Control's decision to withdraw his licence.

The BBBofC penalised the heavyweight fighter for his conduct before and after his fight with Vitali Klitschko last month.

Chisora's manager Frank Warren condemned his client's behaviour during the weigh-in, when he slapped Klitschko and spat water at the Ukrainian's brother, Wladimir.

However, the promoter refused to accept that Chisora was to blame for the post-fight brawl with fellow Brit David Haye.

"The fact of the matter is, slapping someone and spitting water is not an acceptable situation," he told the BBC. "But I do not accept for one minute that what happened after the fight was Derek's responsibility.

"He did not throw the first punch, and we've proven that. I think some of the things Derek got involved in in the past has caused the board to make this decision."

Warren went on to question the lack of BBBofC presence at the Munich fight, and said that this could factor in Chisora's potential appeal.

Chisora has 14 days to lodge an appeal against the withdrawal of his boxing licence.
