Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he hopes to make an announcement on Carl Froch's next opponent within the next two weeks.
Froch is known to favour an encounter with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, but while Hearn admits that talks are talking place regarding a possible bout in January, he has insisted that other names remain in contention.
Hearn told ESPN: "Talks have reopened with Top Rank regarding a proposed Froch versus Chavez fight with a date of January 24 pencilled.
"Obviously, we have the potential to make another big domestic fight against James DeGale and even a third fight with Mikkel Kessler, but either way, we have given ourselves a deadline of 10 days to two weeks to map out Carl's future."
Froch's last fight saw him retain his IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles with an eighth-round stoppage victory against George Groves.
