Tyson Fury has moved closer to a domestic showdown with David Haye after turning down the chance to fight Kubrat Pulev for the European Boxing Union heavyweight title.
Fury was due to meet Pulev later this year but the Brit's promoter Mick Hennessey failed to show up at an EBU purse bid for the clash in Austria earlier today.
Today represented the cut-off point for an agreement to be made over a purse bid for the clash between unbeaten heavyweights, but that deadline for the IBF eliminator has now passed.
The 24-year-old now looks likely to meet Haye in a domestic fight later this year, with speculation suggesting that September looks a likely date for any potential clash.
Haye is currently recovering from a hand ligament injury that ruled him out of a bout with Manuel Charr, but is on schedule to return quickly.
