George Groves plots a path towards world-title glory after signing a deal with Matchroom Boxing yesterday.

George Groves has declared that he is ready to make 2013 a memorable year after signing a deal with Matchroom Boxing yesterday.

The unbeaten super middleweight will fight under the Matchroom banner for the first time at Wembley Arena on Saturday against Dario German Balmaceda of Argentina.

Groves will also provide chief support to Carl Froch's rematch with Mikkel Kessler in May, before headlining his own show in September.

With world-title opportunities and big bouts on the horizon, Groves believes that he has made the right decision in joining Eddie Hearn's promotional stable.

He said: "It's a very exciting opportunity for me, Eddie is doing great things and I'm excited to be a part of it.

"I'm at that level now where I'm knocking on the door for world titles and working with Matchroom and being on Sky Sports should help me get closer to that dream.

"I've had to give up my spot as the mandatory for the European title but I'm well ranked in the governing bodies and I want to fight for a world title."

Best remembered for a thrilling points victory over domestic rival James DeGale at the O2 Arena, the 'Saint' is currently ranked number one by the World Boxing Organization.

Arthur Abraham takes on Robert Stieglitz in a rematch for the WBO crown later this month, with both men potential opponents for the Commonwealth champion.
