David Haye: 'I'm looking to remain active'

Former heavyweight world champion David Haye says that he is aiming to remain active once he has made his return to the ring in January.

David Haye has said that he is looking to fight "every three or four months" after he makes his return to the ring in 2016.

Haye will end a three-and-a-half year absence when he faces Mark de Mori at London's O2 Arena on January 16, and the former world heavyweight champion is hopeful that he will not spend a prolonged period without a fight after undergoing surgery on his shoulder during his hiatus.

The 35-year-old told World Boxing News: "If you look at my record over the past few years, I'm probably one of the most inactive fighters on the planet. Even when I was champion there were big gaps. It was like 15 months or something between Audley Harrison and Wladimir Klitschko.

"But it's all good now that I'm in a good healthy condition and knowing that I can go into these fights, then three or four months later I can do it all again."

Haye has won 26 of his 28 bouts as a professional, with his last triumph coming against Dereck Chisora in July 2012.
