David Haye in comeback talks

Retired heavyweight boxer David Haye says he could make a comeback against Vitali Klitschko in March next year.

Retired heavyweight boxer David Haye has said that he could return to the ring in a March bout against WBC Champion Vitali Klitschko.

The 31-year-old announced his retirement in October following his last fight, which was a defeat to Vitali's brother Wladimir in July.

Speaking to the BBC, Haye made it clear his career was not quite finished. "I haven't seen a contract but there's definitely talks going on," he said.

"I said before I retired I would love that fight and there's a date in March that's already been talked about.

"I said I'd want to fight Vitali, the big brother of Wladimir, who beat me in my last fight. They're the only guys I'd consider coming out of retirement for."

The London-born fighter has always struggled to secure the biggest fights because of reported financial disputes but this time he insists he will lower his pay demands to make the Klitschko fight happen.

"The last bout was a 50/50 (split in revenue). This time I don't deserve that. I don't have a title, but what I do bring is excitement and I bring a value - but I don't believe it's 50/50," added Haye.

His defeat to the Ukrainian in July was only the second of his professional career.
