Promoter Eddie Hearn has admitted that Kell Brook is unlikely to face Amir Khan this year.
Brook retained his IBF world welterweight title last night after beating Frankie Gavin thanks to a sixth-round TKO.
While Khan is in Brook's sights, the former is holding out for a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr, the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
Hearn told Sky Sports News: "Everyone wants Brook vs. Khan, but it's deja vu. He [Khan] wants Mayweather but now he's saying that won't happen in September so it'll be next May now.
"We can't go on waiting. There's nothing we can do - Kell will carry on, he will fight anyone in the division. He's the best domestically and I think he's number one in the world apart from Mayweather, but I do think he'd cause him problems."
Elsewhere, Anthony Joshua showed his class on last night's undercard with victory over Kevin Johnson.
