Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that negotiations have continued to progress regarding a clash between Gennady Golovkin and Chris Eubank Jr.
The British middleweight reiterated his desire to face the WBC< WBA and IBF title holder after beating Tom Doran on Saturday night and Hearn has said that a deal could be finalised later this week.
Hearn told Sky Sports News: "I've just had a meeting with Chris Eubank Sr and it was very positive. This is a fight that many struggle to get their head around. You've got a young, up-and-coming world quality operator in Chris Eubank Jr who is willing and prepared to take on the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
"I keep waiting for the Eubanks to say 'listen, we aren't serious, this is just for a bit of press and PR', but they are deadly serious and we have taken another major step towards that fight and I believe that fight will get made this week."
There had been talk of Wembley Stadium staging the bout but Hearn says that London's O2 Arena is a more realistic venue.
