Promoter Eddie Hearn reveals that he is happy with the potential appointment of American referee Charlie Fitch for the Wembley showdown between Carl Froch and George Groves.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that there are no issues within either camp regarding the potential appointment of referee Charlie Fitch for the fight between Carl Froch and George Groves.

There had previously been minor issues with the appointment of the officials for the IBF and WBA super-middleweight contest, but Hearn has announced that Fitch is close to being named as the man in the middle for the highly-anticipated rematch at Wembley.

Hearn told Sky Sports News: "The initial officials were put forward by the IBF and the British Boxing Board of Control. There was one complaint, one issue arisen by both teams, one for a referee, one for a judge.

"A new referee was selected, a guy called Charlie Fitch from New York, very experienced, done about five or six world title fights. I think he did Miguel Cotto against Austin Trout, which was his last big world title fight, and a new judge.

"They've now gone back out to both teams - we're happy and I think that the other team are happy and that's gone back to the IBF."

The first encounter between the two Brits ended in controversial fashion when referee Howard Foster deemed Groves unfit to continue in the ninth round, despite the Londoner appearing to still be active in the fight.
