Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that British lightweight Kevin Mitchell could face unbeaten Canadian Ghislain Maduma at Wembley on May 31.
It had been reported earlier this month that talks were in progress to attempt to agree a deal with IBF champion Miguel Vasquez, but Hearn has admitted that the bout is unlikely to happen on the undercard of Carl Froch's super-middleweight encounter with George Groves.
Hearn told IFL.TV: "Vasquez got cut in his last fight so he is unlikely to be ready for May 31, and on Wednesday, the IBF sent out a notice that Kevin Mitchell is now in a final eliminator with Ghislain Maduma.
"We now need to weigh up whether we take that fight, but my gut feeling is that Mitchell will face Maduma in a final eliminator."
Mitchell moved to 37 wins from 39 bouts with a second-round stoppage of Mikheil Avakyan in Liverpool earlier this month.
