Promoter Eddie Hearn has indicated that British super-middleweight Callum Smith is focused on earning a world title shot rather than facing Liverpool rival Rocky Fielding.
Smith won the WBC silver title on Friday night with an impressive win over Christopher Rebrasse, while Fielding produced a devastating performance to defeat Brian Vera.
A Merseyside showdown between the two is a strong possibility, but Hearn has hinted that both men will look to secure their first opportunity to compete for world honours.
Hearn told Sky Sports News: "There's been a lot of hype surrounding Callum Smith but that was the perfect fight. Luckily, the hype is real and he's going to be number one in the WBC now.
"That puts him one fight away from challenging for the world title. George Groves fights Badou Jack in August or September and we feel we're one fight away from that.
"The Rocky Fielding fight is definitely a great fight for Liverpool but Callum has his eyes on world titles."
Smith extended his professional record to 17 successive wins, while Fielding is unbeaten in 21 outings.
