Amir Khan may scrap retirement plans

Amir Khan may scrap plans to retire at 28 if he has not achieved everything he wants to in boxing.

British light-welterweight Amir Khan has hinted that he may scrap plans to retire in two years, in order to fulfil his ambitions in boxing.

Khan had always said that he would retire at 28 but after consecutive losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia the Bolton fighter has had to reassess.

The 26-year-old has started to rebuild his career, with an impressive win against Carlos Molina last month, and still wants to win titles at light-welterweight and welterweight.

"When I'm 28 I've always said I would retire," Khan said in the Daily Star. "But we will see how my body is.

"It's so easy at the moment to make light-welterweight. I was going to move up to welterweight because there was nothing left for me at light-welterweight. But now there are titles to be won again.

"I'm 26 now and I think in three years I can have six fights, and they can be six big fights. I'm in no rush. I will know myself when to call it a day. I will let my body make the decision."

Khan has said that he wants a rematch with Danny Garcia at some point in 2013.
