Miguel Cotto's next defence of his WBC middleweight title could come against Irishman Andy Lee.
The 33-year-old recently became the first Puerto Rican to win a world title in four different weight divisions after flooring Sergio Martinez four times on the way to the Argentine retiring on his stool late in the fight.
With a potential showdown with Saul Alvarez not taking place until next spring, Cotto could now face Lee at Madison Square Garden on December 13.
The 30-year-old survived a first-round knockdown to score a fifth-round stoppage against John Jackson on the undercard of Cotto's win over Martinez.
