Matthew Macklin unsure of Martin Murray, Darren Barker bouts

Birmingham middleweight Matthew Macklin says that he is unsure if he will ever get into the ring with Martin Murray or Darren Barker.

Matthew Macklin believes that there would be a lot of issues to iron out before signing a fight with either of his middleweight rivals, Martin Murray or IBF champion Darren Barker.

The two-time world title challenger hopes that Barker's victory over Daniel Geale on American network HBO will mean that he is granted a shot at his long-time rival, who must first face mandatory challenger Felix Sturm.

However, the Barnet fighter is believed to be keen on taking on Murray, who has twice been denied a world title strap due to questionable scoring in his bouts against Sturm and Sergio Martinez.

"I think Darren winning the world title could open things up, especially as he did it on HBO. My last three fights have been on HBO as is my next one," the 31-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"It's not really a case of whether we want to fight each other - I'm sure we all do - but you've got three different promoters, three different television networks.

"I will fight anyone, I think everyone knows that, but there's a lot of logistics to be sorted out that the casual observer probably doesn't realise. Sometimes I don't understand it so how do you explain it to Joe public?"

Macklin was knocked out in the third round of his title fight with Gennady Golovkin in June.
