Floyd Mayweather Jr has claimed that he will push himself harder than he ever has before in his preparation for the clash with Manny Pacquiao on May 2.

The pair will collide at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in a fight that could set a new pay-per-view buy-rate record in the sport, and Mayweather has talked up the ability of his Filipino opponent.

The unbeaten 'Money' has stated that he will undertake the most intense training regime to date in an attempt to be ready later this year.

He told reporters: "I'm going to train like no other and push myself to the limit. I have never wanted to win a fight so bad in my life. One thing I do know, about any sport, when you lose, it's in your mind.

"On May 2, the best will fight the best and Manny Pacquiao is one of the best fighters of this era. If you lost once, it's in your mind. From day one, I was always taught to be a winner - no matter what. Push yourself to the limit, stay focused, and be the best you can be.

"I would like to thank my father, a great man and a great trainer. I would like to thank Team Pacquiao, the fans and the media. It's been a long road - but we are here now."

Pacquiao described the meeting as "historic" at a press conference on Wednesday.
