Floyd Mayweather Jr: 'Manny Pacquiao is a coward'

Floyd Mayweather Jr says that he has "lost a lot of respect" for Manny Pacquiao, after the Filipino boxer claimed that he was not at full strength for their high-profile bout.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has ruled out a rematch against Manny Pacquiao, claiming that the Filipino boxer is a "sore loser" for making excuses in the wake of last weekend's unanimous points defeat.

The 36-year-old had to undergo surgery earlier this week after complaining of a shoulder injury picked up prior to his high-profile bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

However, Mayweather has dismissed suggestions that his opponent was not at full strength, and has now backtracked on offering him a rematch in the future.

"Absolutely not," the American is quoted as saying by The Telegraph when asked about Pacquiao's injury claims. "He was fast. His left hand was fast.

"His right hand was fast and he was throwing them both fast and strong. He lost. He knows he lost. I lost a lot of respect for him after all of this."

When pushed on whether the two could face off once more in the future, he added: "At this particular time, no, because he's a sore loser and he's a coward. If you lost, accept the loss and say, 'Mayweather, you were the better fighter.'"

Mayweather took his career record to 48-0 with his welterweight world title victory, which will go down as the most lucrative in boxing history.
