John Murray will face British lightweight champion Gavin Rees on Saturday, December 8 after an agreement was reached between Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren.
Hearn revealed last week that Murray had agreed terms to fight Rees at the London Olympia on Matchroom's 'Christmas Cracker' bill, but was awaiting confirmation from the Mancunian's promoter Warren.
Rees has enjoyed a fantastic 2012 so far, defending his European title in Paris before stopping Derry Matthews in July to become British champion.
Murray hasn't fought since December 2011, when he was beaten by Brandon Rios in a bruising world title challenge at Madison Square Garden.
A bumper December bill also features Lee Purdy taking on dangerous American Carson Jones plus Darren Barker making a comeback against tough Welshman Kerry Hope.
