Martin Murray and Chris Eubank Jr have suggested that they could face each other later in 2016 after exchanging words on social media.
Last month, a clash between the two looked unlikely with Murray being outclassed by George Groves and Eubank nearing a deal to face world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, but failure to conclude negotiations with the Kazakh has left the British champion with limited options.
The 26-year-old has been ordered to defend his domestic belt against Tommy Langford but both Murray and Eubank have talked up a potential bout between themselves.
Murray held the British middleweight title in 2011 but he has since moved up to super-middleweight.
