Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin have indicated on Twitter that they would be open to facing each other in a high-profile domestic showdown later in 2015.
The British middleweight scene has thrown up the possibility of a number of intriguing matches in recent years, but as of yet, only the encounter between Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jr has come to fruition.
However, during a conversation in which Macklin praised Murray's performance in defeat to Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night, Macklin suggested that talks could take place after his outing in May, something Murray acknowledged that he would be interested in.
Golovkin, Sergio Martinez and Felix Sturm have prevented both men from becoming world champion since Macklin's bout with Sturm in 2011.
