Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that he has agreed terms for Gavin Rees to challenge WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner.
The unbeaten American will defend his crown against Rees in Atlantic City on February 16.
Rees endured a frustrating end to 2012 after a domestic dust-up with John Murray fell apart when the Mancunian failed a pre-fight medical.
Hearn took to Twitter with an announcement on the deal after rumours circulated on a number of forums.
He tweeted: "Hounded by questions about Rees v Broner.. We have agreed terms with Golden Boy for Feb 16.
"Delighted for @gavtherock he deserves this massive shot. February is going to be some month on @skysportsboxing!"
Contracts still need to be signed for the fight to go ahead, with Rees bidding to become a two-time world champion.
