Promoter Frank Warren says that Carl Froch has some explaining to do following revelations in the Nottingham fighter's autobiography.

Promoter Frank Warren has said that Carl Froch has some explaining to do following revelations in the Nottingham fighter's autobiography.

In the book, titled The Cobra: My Story, Froch said that he has held certain fighters up so his family would win bets on him winning in a specific round.

An excerpt from the book, highlighted by Warren in his column in The Sun, reads: "I've done it more than on one occasion but that's not illegal. I can say, 'right, I'll stop this kid in round five'. If I'm good enough to do that then fair enough.

"I don't gamble but my brothers and my friends did quite well off it. I held him up in round four. He was there for the taking and I held him up."

Warren believes that the 34-year-old's claims incriminate him for "fight fixing".

In his column, Warren commented: "[The story] only emerged when Froch was interviewed by BBC Nottingham on the day Chisora's world title weigh-in with Vitali Klitschko ended when he slapped the champion's face.

"Froch had plenty of opportunities during the interview to retract his claims, but persisted with them. When he found out that he was in hot water he later tried to distance himself from what he had said.

"He will surely have some explaining to do in front of the British Boxing Board of Control, who have said they want to chat to him about these allegations. I've said there is no way I can condone Chisora's actions in Germany or defend them, but I find Froch's comments highly hypocritical when he said: 'This has not put boxing in a good light.'"

Froch has recently agreed a deal to fight with IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute in Nottingham on May 26.
