Former two-division world champion Paul Williams is likely to be paralysed from the waist down after being involved in a motorcycle accident.
The 30-year-old, who twice held the world welterweight title and was also an interim junior middleweight champion, was involved in a crash near Atlanta on Sunday.
His manager, George Peterson, has said that Williams, will undergo surgery on Wednesday to stablilize the healthy upper half of his spine by putting a protective wall around it.
Williams had only last week signed a contract to fight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in a pay-per-view headline bout on September 15 in Las Vegas.
