British super-middleweight Rocky Fielding has produced a devastating performance to stop Brian Vera inside two rounds in Liverpool.
The Merseyside puncher went into the contest on the back of 20 successive victories, but a win over American Vera would make a statement in the 168lbs division.
It was one-way traffic from the first bell, and Vera hit the canvas towards the end of the first round after Fielding landed flush with a left hook.
Vera easily made the count, but he was forced to absorb more punishment in the second and, perhaps due to indecision from the referee after a stumble, he was on the end of another clean shot from a rampant Fielding.
The referee allowed Vera to continue, but shortly afterwards, he stepped in after Vera looked wide open to more hurtful punches from the hometown fighter.
With this triumph, Fielding will advance up the world rankings after winning the vacant WBC international title.
