Scott Quigg has defeated Hidenori Otake on points this evening to retain his WBA super-bantamweight title.
The 26-year-old had to go the distance at Liverpool's Echo Arena, before eventually being announced as a unanimous winner by the judges.
Quigg had the better of the early exchanges, but was unable to land a knockout blow on an opponent who came into this fight without tasting defeat since 2007.
Otake started to grow into the contest as it wore on, soaking up any hits that came his way until referee Howard Foster temporarily halted the fight to assess a cut on the Japanese boxer's right eye, before deeming him fit enough to continue.
Despite losing a lot of blood in the closing rounds, Otake was able to see out the contest to take it to the judges' scorecards, although it was Quigg who earned the win - the 30th of his career - to retain the title.
