Adrien Broner has stopped Gavin Rees in the fifth round of their WBC lightweight title fight in Atlantic City.
The Welshman's corner threw in the towel with one second of the fifth round remaining, after he had twice been floored by 'The Problem'.
It was the challenger who made the stronger start to the contest, taking the first two rounds with busier work.
However, Broner's quality began to tell in the third, as he began to pick his shots with precision, while also exploding with some frightening combinations.
A sweetly-timed right uppercut sent Rees sprawling in the fourth, although 'The Rock' was quickly back to his feet as the referee made the count.
The former WBA light welterweight champion was game, but he continued to take punishment in the fifth. He was forced to one knee following a powerful body shot, but again he got up for more.
It did not last much longer, as Gary Lockett waved the white flag with his fighter struggling to hold off the talented American, who improves his unbeaten record to 26 fights.
