Team GB boxer Nicola Adams has claimed that she now approaches every boxing bout in the same manner – as if it were a final.
The 32-year-old booked her spot in the semi-finals of the 2015 European Games with victory over the Bulgarian Stoyka Petrova on Monday.
Adams has admitted that "it is a shame" that her clash with Petrova was not the flyweight final, but she has insisted that she will remain focused on the task in hand.
"I have got to take every opponent as a final. Every time I box I take it as a final. I am Olympic champion, Commonwealth Games champion and now I am going to be a European Games medallist," she told reporters.
"Every time I step into the ring, the opponent wants to beat Nicola Adams so I always have to come with my 'A' game, but it is a shame that it was not the final because I think that would have been really nice for the crowd to see."
Adams will face Turkey's Elif Coskun in the semi-finals of the European Games on Wednesday.
