Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary of day 12 of the Olympic boxing.

The women's semi-finals take centre stage in the afternoon session, with Team GB's Nicola Adams fighting India's Mery Kom for a place in the gold-medal match of the flyweight division.

Ireland's Katie Taylor is chasing an Olympic gold medal to go with her four World Amateur Championship titles. She takes on Tajik opponent Mavzuna Chorieva in her lightweight semi-final.

Her compatriot Paddy Barnes continues his campaign in the light flyweight class in the evening session. India's Devendro Singh Laishram stands between him and a spot in the semi-final.

Team GB captain Tom Stalker will arguably get the loudest cheer in the ExCel Centre this evening when he goes up against Munkh-Erdene Uranchimeg of Mongolia for a guaranteed bronze medal.

Please note that the action gets underway at 1.30pm.

11.56pmGvozdyk wins 19-17 - but in slightly controversial circumstances. Benchabla was given a harsh warning as the clock hit zero, therefore giving Gvozdyk two points to his total.

11.22pmMekhontcev produced a late surge to take a four-point victory and a spot in the semi-finals.

Round 3It's all Stalker now! He is landing with regularity!

Round 3Good jab from Stalker scores another point. Couple of fast shots also score well.

Round 3Stalker wobbles the Mongolian with a thunderous left hand!

Round 3Stalker launches a big attack, to which Uranchimeg replies in kind.

End of Round 2Uranchimeg takes a 14-13 lead. Stalker has it all to do.

Round 2A vicious exchange between the two. Uranchimeg perhaps landed the better shot, but Stalker was in first.

Round 2Stalker catches his opponent as he tries to move inside.

Round 2Decent right hook from Stalker has Uranchimeg dazed. Another couple of shots seems to have just turned the tide slightly.

Round 2Uranchimeg lands to the body again. Stalker has his hands full.

Round 1Couple of decent shots from Stalker, but Uranchimeg is still on top.

Round 1The Mongolian is overwhelming Stalker with relentless pressure.

3.05pmTorlopova drags herself back into it. The scores are now level at the halfway stage.

2.26pmThe fight is tied at 3-3. There isn't much between these two. It seems, even at this early stage, that it could be very close at the end.

End of Round 4That's it! Taylor will fight for a gold medal!

Round 4Chorieva throws a combination, but nothing gets through Taylor's defence.

Round 4Taylor bounces on her toes and looks coiled like a cobra. She could spring her attacks at any moment and looks very impressive. Although she has been tagged a few times...

End of Round 3Taylor nows leads 13-6 and has this fight all but sewn up.

Round 3Chorieva lands one as Taylor comes in to attack. A little reminder for her to stay on her toes.

Round 3Taylor finishes a great combination with a superb left hook.

Round 3Chorieva is being warned for 'gamesmanship'. She was beckoning Taylor to attack... God knows why. The Irishwoman looks strong.

Round 3Taylor lands with a nice combination.

End of Round 2Taylor extends her lead to 7-3. She stepped it up slightly in that round.

Round 2Taylor comes forward and gets through with one or two. She comes forward again and lands a few more, but gets clipped herself.

Round 2Taylor is showing signs that she is starting to get on top now. Taylor's footwork is sharp but Chorieva looks quite dangerous.

End of Round 1Taylor has taken a 3-1 lead. Not much happening in the first round though...

Round 1Taylor is bouncing up and down while Chorieva skips around the ring. Finally they engage...

Round 1Neither fighter willing to commit themselves early.

End of Round 4Comfortbale final round from Adams who was in cruise control.

Round 4Adams is still not letting Kom into this and has wrapped up victory.

End of Round 3Adams leads 8-4 and is in complete control of this bout.

Round 3Kom is being punished for every attack that falls short... which is pretty much all of her attacks. She has Kom's card well and truly marked.

Round 3Adams is back on the offensive again.

End of Round 2Adams is boxing beautifully and she has stretched that lead to 5-2.

Round 2Kom steps in but does not throw, which enticing Adams forward. She connects with a decent straight left.

Round 2Kom cannot land a clean shot. Adams looks too fast.

End of Round 1Adams takes a 3-1 lead. A fair reflction.

Round 1Kom is finding Adams to be a hard target.

Round 1Kom goes at Adams, who ties her up on the inside. Adams gets a couple of decent uppercuts away.

1.46pmThis promises to be a great encounter.

1.44pmNext up: Mery Kom (India) vs Nicola Adams (Great Britain)

1.43pmRen wins through 1-8 and will fight for a gold medal.

1.39pmEsparza cuts the deficit to two points. Final round.
