Sebastian Brendel has claimed that he is one of the favourites to take European Games gold in the C1-1000m kayak sprint.
The German is defending Olympic champion in the category, but admits that there will be competition from a strong Hungary contingent and the Czech Republic.
He told reporters: "I would say I'm one of the favourites, but Attila Vajda will be very strong and Martin Fuksa from Czech Republic also.
"[Hungary] have a strong C1 and C2 but we have a very strong team. We have competed at the European Championships and two World Cups this year while the Hungarians just competed at one world cup in Portugal."
Vajda won C1-1000m gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
