Six athletes have been chosen for the ParalympicsGB team for the first ever para-canoe event to be held at a Games.
Jeanette Chippington, Emma Wiggs, Nick Beighton, Anne Dickens, Ian Marsden and Rob Oliver will represent Britain at Rio 2016 this September.
Chippington, Wiggs and Beighton are no strangers to the Paralympics as they competed in swimming, volleyball and rowing respectively in previous Games.
Dickens, Marsden and Oliver will be making their Paralympic debuts for the British programme, which was created in 2011.
Para-canoe programme manager Steve Harris said: "It has been a hugely exciting journey over the last five years to get to this point where we are announcing our team for the Paralympic Games in Rio, where para-canoe will make its debut.
"We have a hugely talented and committed group of athletes, backed 100% by our coaches and support staff as well as the National Lottery through UK Sport. I am confident we will go to Rio as one of the very best prepared teams in the world and we will do everything possible to deliver and contribute to the success of ParalympicsGB."
All of the athletes claimed national titles in their respective classifications during trials at the National Spring Regatta earlier this month.
