Hello and welcome to the start of the final day here at Comic-Con 2012.
First up, Fringe, which is gearing up for its fifth and final season. Expect the subject of the endgame to feature heavily in the show's last ever Comic-Con panel.
Note that all times in this blog are Pacific, which is eight hours behind the UK and three hours behind East Coast.
11.03amThe cast take a tear-filled bow for the final time as this panel comes to an end. Next up, Supernatural - join me in a few!
11.00amFave version of character to portray? Noble: "My favourite is the Random Walter. He was beautiful because he was so random. There was nothing I couldn't do!" Reddick: "Broyles. I wish he'd lived a little longer but he went with a bang. I loved playing the scene with my son, in the bedroom where I put him to bed." Torv: "The days where I was playing AltOlivia were much more enjoyable because she was lighter. But Olivia is much more satisfying. I'm glad we said goodbye to the alternate universe because we can now focus on their characteristics." Nicole: "I think Alt Astrid was more of a challenge for me. Everyone thought she was a robotic character, and then out of nowhere she comes and she really brings it. It was really hard saying goodbye to the Alt universe, especially Lincoln."
10.58amWill we see any actual female Observers this year? Wyman: "I always wanted female Observers, but the network said no. This is not true! I think the answer to your question will become apparent this year. There is a reason and you will find out the reason."
10.57amFave Walterisms? Jackson: "I think the vagenda line is still one of the best neologisms." Reddick: "It's from the pilot, when I think you're driving somewhere and Walter says 'I think I just pissed myself'."
10.56amNicole: "By the way, Anna and I have read some of that fan fiction out there. You guys are scandalous."
10.55amJackson: "There's a good possibility that the show will live in some form or another." Noble: "If there was a superhero called The Fringe, what would he or she be like?"
10.53amCould the series continue in another format? Jackson: "We have a comic book writer and artist at the table." Nicole: "Well I'm happy to keep it going on. It would be very different, it would be called The Adventures of Astrid." Noble: "I would think that a film is very possible down the track."
10.52amJosh - are you jealous about not playing an Alternate? "Part of me enjoyed that I didn't have to go through the rigmarole. I would have enjoyed it, but I was happy with those days off."
10.51amIs Henry Ian Cusick going to be in future episodes? Wyman: "Since we have 13, I want to be careful how much I say. So let's just say, Henry was an astounding performer last season, let's see if he makes his way into this season. Sorry, that's all I can say."
10.48amReddick: "I don't remember my first day on set. I remember the read-through, but I don't remember the first scene we shot!"
10.48amNicole: "There was nothing to ready me for what I was about to experience for the next five days."
10.46amAudience Q&A time. Advice to themselves on their first day on set? Jackson: "Get a good night's sleep." Reddick: "At least it wasn't 'fire your agent'."
10.45amThat said, we've just finished watching a specially-made 'thank you' trailer for the fans.
10.38amFilming hasn't started on the final season yet, by the way, so no new footage today.
10.36amJackson, also teary: "I think I'm going to go with Seth Gable. Not necessarily a scene, but particularly when he was doing his doppelganger stuff. It was really well thought out and very well done." He now fakes crying. "I swore I wasn't gonna cry!"
10.36amNoble: "I'm sensitive too. I love the scene where Peter chopped that guy's fingers off!"
10.35amReddick: "You can't go and tell anyone that this happened." OOPS.
10.35amHe talks about the scene where Astrid asks her alternate if her dad loved her. He's really struggling.
10.35amReddick: "I haven't watched most of the show, I never watch my work, but I watched that episode. Oh shit." He's breaking down.
10.33amReddick: "I actually wasn't there that day, but... don't start me crying." OH GOD HE'S CRYING TOO.
10.32amTorv: "Last year there was an episode about Astrid, that we'd all been waiting so long for that. Jasika comes in in her outfit, and we're all ready to do the scene, and it was silent. The respect and the care and the love that was given... watching you do that was so special." She's still fighting tears.
10.32amTorv and Nicole are now in tears.
10.31amFavourite scene not involving them? Nicole: "My first is when Walter is at the phone booth and he can't remember the number to get in touch with Peter. My other was when Olivia goes into her house and she realises that the Doppelgnger had been washing her clothes. It was so heartbreaking because I'm never going to experience that obviously, it was just played with such subtlety and beauty."
10.28amThe love story. Will they get their happily ever after? Jackson: "I think these two will get the final chapter of their story." Torv: "I concur." Jackson: "The fun part of making the show is the process of discovery. It's much more fun to watch it week to week."
10.27amNoble is having an extended rant about the "love" in the show. He's a legend but I'll spare you this.
10.26amPrepared to say goodbye? Noble: "I take it all personally, but they have all become family. I don't think you can work with people for five years without having a strong relationship. There's a real sense of solidarity, and I don't think that will go away."
10.24amTorv: "I tell you what, that's what we need to teach Olivia to do! I'm so sorry. I don't know, please let's move on."
10.23amTorv: "The biggest lesson I've learned is to come, to tell you the truth. It's to come." Everyone is laughing and she doesn't know why.
10.22amJackson: "I would like to aspire to the nobility that Peter has developed over the course of the five years. The sacrifices he has made for love and family are on an epic scale. It's been a great joy, particularly with john to go from being the son to the father figure then back to the son.
10.21amNicole takes the mick out of Reddick's Breaking Bad hat. She follows it up with a compliment: "I just want you to know he is the tallest darkest most handsome man at Comic-Con." He is pleased.
10.19amWhen did Nicole realise that Astrid had a connection with the audience? "In season one, when she didn't even have much to do. More people said when's Astrid gonna get more to do? I was like 'I dunno guys, I might get killed!' Fortunately the relationship John and I have in real life translated on camera a bit."
10.17amDo the cast know how it will end? Wyman: "Yeah, which I think is really fun, because in past years they haven't. Because it's 13 episodes, we want to write the scripts early to make sure everything is absolutely perfect. If I'm doing that with the writing staff, I want to make sure the actors have enough time to know where they're going too. They've developed these characters too and we wanted to make sure they have enough advance warning."
10.15amHow long has Wyman known how series will end? "I had ideas since season one, but those changed, to be honest. People bring things to the show. Truthfully I had 2 and a half versions of what I thought we should do for the end, then I decided about three months ago. It just became very clear."
10.14amWhat did the cast think of the renewal? Jackson: "It was a bit of a shock, but John felt confident. Generally everyone was sort of happily;y surprised, because we were right there on the razor edge, this year more so than usual."
10.13amWill S5 take place in the future? Wyman: "It's going to pick up exactly where we left off."
10.12amOut come the panel for today: exec producer JH Wyman as well as cast members Josh Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Anna Torv and Jasika Nicole.
10.11amWith minutes to spare, here we go. For reasons unknown, the organisers here at Comic-Con only decided to start filling the hall 35 minutes before the session, so as I write this it's still only half full and people are still streaming in at the back. So to speak.
