Australia move to 507-7 by tea, despite England denying captain Michael Clarke his double century and dismissing Peter Siddle.

Australia remain in command of their first innings on 507-7, despite England denying captain Michael Clarke his double century in the third Ashes Test at Old Trafford.

England clinched the significant wicket after lunch through Stuart Broad, whose delivery forced Clarke (187) to hit the ball with the top of his bat and play it towards the stumps, awarding the bowler with his 200th Test wicket.

After dismissing Australia's top order, England needed to take a stronghold of the contest, and they did just that through Graeme Swann, who dismissed Peter Siddle for one after the batsman swung wildly across the line, leaving a path for the ball to crash into the stumps.

However, following two quick wickets, the tourists attempted to get quick runs, which they were able to do while the England bowlers struggled to halt Australia's charge.

Brad Haddin scored his 12th half-century in 47 Test matches during a partnership with Mitchell Starc, who also surpassed 50 by ending the session on 54.

Haddin is currently unbeaten on 57 runs.
