Michael Vaughan: 'Australia receive boost with James Anderson injured'

Injured England bowler James Anderson is labelled as a "massive loss" ahead of the fourth Ashes Test.

Australia have been given a "massive break" as James Anderson is set to miss the fourth Ashes Test through injury, according to ex-England batsman Michael Vaughan.

The 33-year-old suffered a side strain at Edgbaston last week and has been ruled out, and Vaughan thinks that it will give Australia's out-of-form batsman a chance to score some runs.

He wrote in The Telegraph: "There is definitely time for Australia to work out a way against the moving ball. They know England will bowl pretty well at Trent Bridge but Anderson is a massive loss.

"I remember in 2005 when Glenn McGrath went down it gave the team a massive lift. The top order knew we did not have to face him. Now David Warner, Chris Rogers, Steve Smith and Clarke will know they don't have to face Anderson on his favourite ground. It is a massive break for Australia."

England currently lead the five-match series 2-1.
