Pakistan set Australia a target of 214 from their 50 overs to come out on top in this morning's Cricket World Cup meeting.

Australia have put themselves in a strong position to advance through to the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup having bowled Pakistan all out for 213 in Adelaide.

The Men in Green struggled to get going with the bat, as Haris Sohail's tally of 41 runs proved to be the closest they came to truly troubling the opposition from their 49.5 overs.

Openers Sarfraz Ahmed (10) and Ahmed Shehzad (5) were sent packing within the space of three balls, being caught out by Shane Watson and Michael Clarke respectively as their innings got off to a shaky start.

Misbah-ul-Haq (34) looked to have steadied things somewhat alongside Sohail having helped his side on their way to 97-3 before being sent packing by Aaron Finch, while the latter saw his time at the crease come to an end soon after when he could only feather his big drive through to Brad Haddin.

Umar Akmal (20), Shahid Afridi (23) and Sohaib Maqsood (29) were next to go as the quarter-final encounter looked to head in the same direction as yesterday's equally as one-sided affair.

Mitchell Starc became the leading wicket taker at the tournament when he bowled out Wahab Riaz for just 16, with Sohail Khan following soon after with an equally abject four as the end of Pakistan's batting spell drew closer.

Last to go was Ehsan Adil (4) who failed to pile on the runs to give the Aussies a stronger tally to chase down, being caught by Starc to go the same way as all 10 of his teammates before him.

India await the victors in the final four.
