Australian cricket legend Shane Warne has died at the age of 52, his management team have announced.

Warne, regarded as the greatest leg spinner of all time, was found unresponsive in a villa in Koh Samui, Thailand after suffering a suspected heart attack.

In a statement, his management team said: "Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived.

"The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course."

During an illustrious Test career which spanned between 1992 and 2007, Warne was one of the most feared bowlers in the sport, ending his period in the five-day arena with 708 wickets at an average of 25.41.

Warne was often the thorn in the side of Australia's fierce rivals England, his career-best figures of 8-71 being recorded during an Ashes clash at the Gabba in 1994.

The news comes less than 24 hours after the passing of legendary Australian wicket-keeper Rod Marsh, who also suffered a heart attack last week. body check tags ::
