Australia wicket-keeper Brad Haddin is ruled out of the ODI series with South Africa and is a doubt for the Tests against India because of a shoulder injury.

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has been ruled out of Australia's one-day international series with South Africa because of a shoulder problem.

The 37-year-old has responded well to treatment to an injury sustained in the Tests against Pakistan, but has been unable to train to prove his fitness.

However, Aussie physio Alex Kountouris is optimistic that Haddin will be fit for the Test series with India, which starts in December.

"Brad has had a further assessment of his right shoulder by Cricket Australia Chief Medical Officer Dr John Orchard which confirmed an AC joint injury," Kountouris told reporters.

"He has improved and responded to treatment since returning from the UAE but has not recovered sufficiently to return to training. Therefore he has been declared unfit for the remainder of ODI series against South Africa.

"While Brad will miss the ODI series the CA medical team is still hopeful that he will recover in time for the first Test against India."

Matthew Wade was called into the Aussie squad for the opening ODI today and made 36 to help the hosts post a commanding total at Perth.
