Australia fast bowler says that he is ready to play again after receiving "closure" at the funeral of 25-year-old batsman Phil Hughes.

Australia fast bowler Ryan Harris has suggested that he is ready to play following the tragic death of batsman Phil Hughes.

The 25-year-old was laid to rest in his hometown of Macksville on Wednesday after he died last week, just two days after getting struck on the neck by a bouncer bowled by Sean Abbott in a Sheffield Shield match.

While Harris has claimed that some of his teammates are still dealing with their grief, the bowler is ready to get back on the field in next week's opening Test against India in Adelaide.

"One thing I noticed late on Wednesday was how the mood in the group had begun to shift," Harris wrote in his column in The Age. "There were a few conversations about getting back to playing.

"The funeral was a bit of a milestone. As well as to pay your respects, it gives you a bit of closure. Now it's done I think there are a few more guys determined to get back on the park, but there's still a couple who are really hurting."

The Test was due to get underway in Brisbane today, but it was rescheduled for December 9 following Hughes's passing.
