Shane Watson and Chris Rogers will open the batting for Australia during the first Ashes Test encounter against England at Trent Bridge next week.
David Warner has previously batted at the top of the order for the Aussies, but he is banned until the start of the series following a physical altercation with England batsman Joe Root in a Birmingham bar last month.
As a result, coach Darren Lehmann has opted for the experienced Watson and Rogers, who has played only one Test match in his career so far, to lead his nation's attack.
"Darren Lehmann confirms Shane Watson and Chris Rogers will open the batting for Australia in the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge," read a message on Cricket Australia's official Twitter page.
Rogers last appeared for the tourists in India five years ago.
