Glenn Maxwell's 76 leads Australia to a comfortable five-wicket victory over Pakistan in Dubai as the tourists wrap up the one-day series with one match remaining.

Australia chased down 216 with more than six overs remaining to record a comfortable five-wicket win over Pakistan and clinch the one-day international series.

Glenn Maxwell did the majority of the damage for the Aussies and his 76 was well supported by contributions throughout the batting order on a dry pitch in Dubai.

Pakistan had earlier elected to bat after winning the toss and reached 126 without loss as both Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed made half-centuries.

Xavier Doherty's dismissal of Shehzad [61] started a collapse which was spearheaded by Mitchell Johnson, who finished with 3-40, as the Asian nation crumbled to 199-6.

None of the bottom five got out of single figures as Fawad Alam [20 not out] was left to nudge them to 215 all out.

Both of Australia's destructive openers got going but Pakistan gave their hopes of defending their modest total a boost by having Aaron Finch and David Warner caught for 14 and 29 respectively.

Steve Smith [12] also fell in between, but a stand of 85 from Maxwell and George Bailey [28] took the Aussies to 157-3 before Bailey was run out by Shezhed.

Maxwell accelerated to pass 50 and when he went following a knock which included 10 boundaries, James Faulkner [26 not out] and Brad Haddin [17 not out] saw the tourists over the line and to a unassailable 2-0 lead with one match of the series remaining.
