Australia are 38-2 at lunch on the second day of the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne after England make 255 from their innings.

Australia are 38-2 at lunch on the second day of the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne.

England started the day 230-6 with Kevin Pietersen on strike. Ryan Harris bowled the first over and put one wide, before Pietersen sliced a four to move to 71.

However, Mitchell Johnson struck soon after. The seamer fired down a bouncer and Tim Bresnan could do nothing but hand a catch to George Bailey.

Johnson then had another, this time knocking over Pietersen's stumps as the England man fancied his chances to hit a boundary. England put up some very light resistance, but Johnson grabbed his fifth wicket when he trapped Stuart Broad lbw.

England reached 255, but it was all over when Monty Panesar left a straight one and was bowled by Nathan Lyon.

David Warner got off the mark for Australia with a straight drive that reached the rope, and Chris Rogers joined his teammate in the fun, scoring his first boundary off the bowling of Broad.

Warner almost got in trouble with a wild swing, but his luck was out as he was forced to depart for just nine after hitting the ball into the air. Jonathan Bairstow took an easy catch.

Shane Watson came to the crease and got off the mark with a four. The score was then 36-1, but England soon got their second wicket.

Watson, who had defended well around the off-stump, played a wild drive off the bowling of Ben Stokes and got a thin inside edge through to the waiting Bairstow.
