Australia perform a late comeback to clinch the second ODI against England by one wicket with just three balls remaining.

Australia performed a stunning comeback to beat England by one wicket in their second one-day international at The Gabba when the tourists were on the brink of glory.

England put themselves in a strong position when Eoin Morgan scored his sixth ODI century to push the tourists into 300-8 from their first innings.

England, who lost The Ashes in a 5-0 whitewash to the Aussies this winter, had a positive start to their time on the field by dismissing Aaron Finch and David Warner swiftly.

Finch was taken out for a duck following a catch from Gary Ballance, while Warner's time at the crease came to an end when he was caught and bowled out by Chris Jordan for 18.

Joe Root got his bowling stint off to a perfect start at The Gabba by taking out captain Michael Clarke (17) in his first over, to put Australia on the back foot at 104-3.

Shaun Marsh (55) and George Bailey (24) fell next for the Aussies, but the hosts managed to grab some composure with the bat through Glenn Maxwell and Brad Haddin.

However, England managed to take control once again when Tim Bresnan dismissed Haddin, who scored 26 runs from 35 balls, while Maxwell followed on 54.

It was a tense final overs in the clash as James Faulkner hit Ben Stokes for two consecutive sixes after Mitchell Johnson was sent packing.

Faulkner continued to worry England's batsman by hitting three boundaries and as many more sixes to edge the Aussies closer to a successful comeback.

The hosts managed to grab the win from England's clutches with just three balls remaining.
