The Aussies sit on 487 for four with six wickets remaining in their first innings courtesy of Michael Clarke, who remains at the crease on 218 runs.

The 31-year-old managed to score 21 boundaries but will have to claim another 112 runs to surpass his biggest Test score of 329.

Michael Hussey is also not out on 86 after racking up a combined run total of 188 in a partnership with Clarke, while Ed Cowan secured a maiden century to help push up the runs total for Australia.
