Australia beat England by three wickets in their one-day international Tri-Series opener courtesy of a century by David Warner.

A century from in-form David Warner helped Australia earn a comfortable three-wicket victory over England in their opening one-day international Tri-Series clash.

Eoin Morgan saved the tourists' innings with a knock of 121 after Ian Bell and James Taylor were taken out for ducks with zero runs on the board.

England ended their stint at the crease 234 all out, with none of the batsmen bar Morgan able to surpass 30 runs as Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner took four and three wickets respectively.

David Warner and Aaron Finch clinched a combined 33 runs before the latter was bowled out by Chris Woakes, who was also involved in the dismissal of Shane Watson (16), whom he caught out from Chris Jordan's delivery.

From then on, Australia cruised with Steven Smith (37) and George Bailey (10) at the crease, while Steven Finn, Stuart Broad and Ravi Bopara struggled to get a wicket on the board.

Woakes was the best on the field with four wickets, the last of which was Warner, who managed to hit 127 off 115 balls during the innings.

Despite a late rush of dismissals, England failed to restrict Australia in the World Cup warm-up clash.
